This is a step-by-step instruction on how to install SiteSymbol on a computer running Microsoft Windows.
Download and start setup file¶
Download the installation file from
http://www.sitebase.se.
Run the downloaded file SiteSymbolSetup.exe.
Click the Next button to continue. A license agreement dialog is displayed. Please read the license agreement and check the "I agree" check box before clicking
Next again.
Choose installation type
SiteSymbol can be used as a standalone application or as a client/server application. Consult your system administrator to which type to use. There are three kind of installation types:
- Client Only: You are connected to a network together with other SiteSymbol users, and an Administrator is managing the symbols for you and your co-workers. Use this option if server installation of SiteSymbol exists on your network.
- Server Only: You are a system administrator and want to install the symbols on a shared network location. All clients with access to the shared location can use the symbols.
- Client and Server: This is a standalone version of SiteSymbol. With this installation type you do not need to be connected to a network. All symbols will be installed in the same location as the application.
Select the installation type by checking/unchecking the
Client and
Server check boxes. Then click
Next.
Select install path
The install location is the path to the application files. The standard path on an English Windows XP computer is
c:\Program Files\Eurocon\SiteSymbol.
For
Server only installations the install location is more important, since it is the location that client installations will access your symbol files. For
Client only and
Client and Server installations, this is only a matter of taste.
Leave the selected path unchanged or change it to the path you like. Then click
Next.
Selecting path to server (Client Only)
If you are installing as
Client Only, a dialog will appear at the end of the installation. Your system administrator should have informed you of the location of the server folder. Use the dialog to navigate to the correct folder, and click
OK.
Finish installation
If SiteSymbol installed successfully a message is displayed. If the installation failed, an error message will be shown. Please consult the troubleshooting section, and if that does not work, please contact support.
